South Coast to Vík Tour
The South Coast of Iceland is a dramatic region shaped by powerful volcanoes, glaciers, waterfalls, and black sand beaches — a route filled with some of the country’s most iconic natural sights.
We pass beneath the famous Eyjafjallajökull volcano, known worldwide for its 2010 eruption that disrupted air travel across Europe. Today the volcano rests quietly, surrounded by breathtaking scenery.
Waterfalls are a major highlight of this tour. We visit the impressive Seljalandsfoss, where you can walk behind the falling water, and Skógafoss, a mighty waterfall located near the glacier-covered volcano Katla, one of Iceland’s most powerful volcanic systems.
The journey continues toward the world-famous Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, known for its dramatic basalt columns, powerful Atlantic waves, and striking coastal formations.
On clear days, guests may see several well-known volcanoes along the route, including Hekla, Katla, Eyjafjallajökull, and even the Westman Islands offshore.
Our destination is Vík, a charming village on the South Coast, surrounded by black sand plains, volcanic cliffs, and green hills that shelter the town from the sea.
We also stop at Sólheimajökull Glacier, where you can view a stunning glacier lagoon formed in recent decades — a vivid reminder of Iceland’s changing landscape.
